A notice to Southern Aroostook Community School Grade 6-12 parents/guardians, 3rd Quarter progress reports went home with students last Friday. If you did not receive a copy of your child(s) progress report, please contact the school and we can email you a copy. Ski for Life is canceled for today, Thursday March 6, 2025. Big Rock is closed today due to the rain. Ski for Life will happen next Wednesday March 12, 2025, from 2:00-6:00pm. The bus will depart from school at 12:45 pm. Just a reminder that Wednesday March 12, 2025 is an early release day, student dismissal is 11:15am. Students participating in Ski for Life may stay here at school until the bus leaves at 12:45pm.
Also, no ASP today for Grades 7-12. Grades 3-6 ASP will still run as scheduled.

In Mrs. Starrett’s Grade 4 classroom students have learned about sound waves & vibration. Students participated in an activity to show how sound waves travel.



Four Southern Aroostook band members got to participate and play at the Beginning Band day hosted at Ashland Community School. They practiced and played various songs with other beginner band students, while also learning some fun pieces from various music teachers in the county. Congratulations to Sara Kennedy, Brayden Rockwell, Anaysia Smith and Maylee Walker.





Our PK classroom is celebrating Dr. Seuss this week. Monday was Rainbow Day, Tuesday was Mismatched Socks Day and today is Wacky Wednesday!






Southern Aroostook Middle School students in Grades 6 & 7 participated in the "Maine Winter Classic" this week sponsored by the Maine Department of Education and MLTI. The "Maine Winter Classic" provides an interactive game-based learning experience for students, as they “travel” around Maine on a virtual game board, completing a variety of tasks, earning tokens, and learning about topics like computer science, digital citizenship, digital design, and gamification. Miss Shelby’s kindergartners joined Mrs. Desmond’s second graders for a special breakfast in honor of Dr. Seuss. They decided that they do like green eggs and ham!





Friday was Color Day at So. Aroostook High School Winter Carnival. The Class of 2025 came in first place this year!
Thank you to the Southern Aroostook High School Student Council and their advisors, Krista Hardy and Terri Slauenwhite, for planning a great week of fun activities for our students. Also, thank you to the High School teachers and staff for facilitating the events last week.

The Annual Aroostook League Senior All-Star Basketball Game will be held at Caribou High School on Thursday, March 6, 2025 with the girl’s game starting at 5:30 and the boy’s game at 7:00. Students from the Maine Dance Academy will present a dance performance at half time of both games.
Proceeds from the game funds the Aroostook League Scholarship program. In 2025, the Aroostook League will award ten $500.00 scholarships at the annual Aroostook League Scholar/Athlete Banquet held on March 11 in Caribou.
All those involved – referees, coaches, ticket takers, ticket sellers, announcer, the Maine Dance Academy, time keepers and scorekeepers - are volunteering their time to aid the Aroostook League Scholarship program.
This is the final time for basketball fans in Aroostook County to watch many of the outstanding Senior Boys and Girls Basketball players display their skills on the hardwood. Admission is $5.00.
Four seniors from Southern Aroostook High School will be playing in the game. Libby Anderson, Olivia Ellingwood, Ethan Collier, & Trafton Russell. Congratulations to all of the players on their selection. to the Aroostook Senior All-Star Game.

Congratulations to Southern Aroostook High School senior Addyson Schmidt on her acceptance to the University of Maine for the Fall 2025 semester. Addyson has been accepted into the College of Earth, Life and Health Sciences with a major in Ecology and Environmental Sciences. She has also received a $4,000 merit scholarship


Good luck to the Southern Aroostook High School girls and boys basketball teams in their Class D Quarterfinal games at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. The girls play at 10:30am vs. Bangor Christian High School. The boys play at 1:30pm vs Schenk High School.



Due to the weather, RSU 50 will be closed today, Thursday February 13, 2025. No school today.
