Aroostook High School girls program will play for their sixth consecutive regional championship in their seventh consecutive regional championship game appearance. Also, congratulations to the So. So. Aroostook High School students toured the Region Two Career and Technical Center in Houlton today. Students had an opportunity to tour each of the programs offered. Thank you to Region Two for hosting us!!

All students in grades 8-11 will be touring Region Two programs tomorrow as part of the regular school day. We will be leaving school at 8:25 and returning to SACS by 11:30. If your child is interested in applying for a 2024/25 region program, applications will be sent home with them tomorrow. Please contact Mrs. Greene with questions. 💜 Seniors will have school as regularly scheduled.

Mrs. Desmond’s second graders celebrated Valentine’s Day by baking and delivering cupcakes from their “Cupid’s Cupcake Cafe”.

Last week So. Aroostook High School held our annual “Pink Out” game with all proceeds from the game going towards recognition for the continued fight against cancer. We raised $1500.00! Thank you to everyone who contributed and made this event happen, including the Katahdin High School girls basketball team, Coach McAvoy and their fans.

Congratulations to So. Aroostook High School Seniors Emmalee Landry, Cami Shields, & Madison Shields, who have been chosen as McDonald’s Senior All-Stars for Class C/D Girls. Congratulations to Dylan Burpee, who has been chosen as a McDonald’s Senior All-Star for Class C/D Boys. They will represent their region at the McDonald's All-Star Game on Saturday, March 9th at Husson University. The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches also announced their Coaches of the Year for the 2023-24 season. Coaches of the Year were voted by their peers. Congratulations to Class D Coach of the Year- Cliff Urquhart of Southern Aroostook High School. Coaches of the Year will represent their region at the McDonald's All-Star Game on Saturday, March 9th at Husson University.

Members of the So. Aroostook Scholarship Fund want to thank everyone who ordered a Super Bowl Sandwich for the annual fundraising event. Members created and delivered over 700 sandwiches this weekend!!

The 10 semifinalists for Maine Mr. and Miss Basketball were announced yesterday. Southern Aroostook High School Senior Dylan Burpee has been named a semifinalist for Mr. Basketball. Congratulations Dylan!! The award is given to the top male and female basketball player in the state. The Top 10 will be reduced to 3 Finalists with the winner being announced on Friday, March 8th at the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches/McDonald's All-Star Banquet at the Anah Temple Shrine in Bangor. This week is National School Counseling Week and we are celebrating our School Counselors here at Southern Aroostook Community School. We are very fortunate to have Jessica Greene and Sarah Willams work with our students, staff and community! Thank you for everything you do!!! Both Jess and Sarah offer invaluable insights , assistance, and encouragement with student academic challenges, personal struggles, or career guidance. Their commitment to fostering and modeling a supportive and inclusive environment within our school community has left a lasting mark on all of us. Through their actions, they have also taught us the importance of kindness, empathy, and resilience. Their impact on our students is inspiring!

Tonight is Senior Night and also our Annual "Pink Out" game with proceeds from tonight's games going to support Cancer Awareness. Fans are encouraged to wear pink or purple tonight!!! Game time is 4:30pm for the junior varsity game with the Varsity game at 6:00 pm.
