Every year, Aroostook Right to Read sponsors a Bookmark Contest to promote reading for fun. The 2024 winners from SACS have been chosen! Their bookmark designs have been sent off to the print shop so we can all enjoy them! Our winners this year are Waylon Batchelder - grade 2, Jeremiah Green - grade 4 and 7th grader - Raven Ward. Congratulations!

There will be a victory caravan for the So. Aroostook High School girls basketball team starting in Island Falls at approximately 6:45pm. Come out and celebrate with the team!!

Good luck to the Southern Aroostook High School Girls Basketball team in their Class D Regional Final Game on Saturday afternoon vs. Katahdin High School at 1:00pm at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor! Hope to see you all tomorrow afternoon in Bangor as our girl team chases history. The So. Aroostook High School girls program will play for their sixth consecutive regional championship in their seventh consecutive regional championship game appearance. Also, congratulations to the So. Aroostook High School cheerleaders, band members and the boys basketball team on a great week in Bangor! You have represented our school and community well.

So. Aroostook High School students toured the Region Two Career and Technical Center in Houlton today. Students had an opportunity to tour each of the programs offered. Thank you to Region Two for hosting us!!

All students in grades 8-11 will be touring Region Two programs tomorrow as part of the regular school day. We will be leaving school at 8:25 and returning to SACS by 11:30. If your child is interested in applying for a 2024/25 region program, applications will be sent home with them tomorrow. Mrs. Desmond’s second graders celebrated Valentine’s Day by baking and delivering cupcakes from their “Cupid’s Cupcake Cafe”.

Last week So. Aroostook High School held our annual “Pink Out” game with all proceeds from the game going towards recognition for the continued fight against cancer. We raised $1500.00! Thank you to everyone who contributed and made this event happen, including the Katahdin High School girls basketball team, Coach McAvoy and their fans.

Congratulations to So. Aroostook High School Seniors Emmalee Landry, Cami Shields, & Madison Shields, who have been chosen as McDonald’s Senior All-Stars for Class C/D Girls. Congratulations to Dylan Burpee, who has been chosen as a McDonald’s Senior All-Star for Class C/D Boys. They will represent their region at the McDonald's All-Star Game on Saturday, March 9th at Husson University. The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches also announced their Coaches of the Year for the 2023-24 season. Coaches of the Year were voted by their peers. Congratulations to Class D Coach of the Year- Cliff Urquhart of Southern Aroostook High School. Coaches of the Year will represent their region at the McDonald's All-Star Game on Saturday, March 9th at Husson University.
