Megan Cook from the University of Maine Cooperative Extension visited our 4th Graders this week. She taught us about Acadian History in our State & how to make Ploye.

Students from Southern Aroostook participated in Special Olympics in Presque Isle today! It was a bit cold and windy but each one went out and gave it their all! They won several medals and made great connections with kids from all over Aroostook County. As always they represented RSU 50 excellently making us all so proud! Way to go athletes! 👏🏻

Thank you to the Houlton Rotary Club for recognizing students from Southern Aroostook High School, Houlton High School, Hodgdon High School, East Grand High School, & Greater Houlton Christian Academy at their annual Student Recognition Luncheon today. This is a great event to celebrate the academic, leadership, character and service qualities in our students. Also, thank you to guest speaker, Haven Rhoda for your inspirational speech to our students.

The Southern Aroostook High School Baseball game that was scheduled for Wednesday May 6th is now scheduled to be played tomorrow, May 7th at 4:00pm. This will now be a HOME game at Southern Aroostook High School.

Good luck to the Southern Aroostook High School Baseball & Softball teams in their games this afternoon vs. Fort Fairfield High School. Game time is 4:00pm.

Ms. Fitzherbert's Chemistry Class was selected to participate in the "Bringing Nuclear Fission to Light" classroom program from America's Navy. Topics included radioactive decay and nuclear fission and it culminated in a hands-on activity. Students used Lite-Brite sets to create a model of how a single atom splitting triggers a cascade of nuclear reactions.

Due to field conditions, today's varsity baseball and softball games vs. Fort Fairfield High School have been postponed until tomorrow, Tuesday May 5, 2026.

We honored our cooks today at the elementary All School Morning Meeting! Thank you for all you do for our students!

A big congratulation goes out to the cast and crew of the ASP Elementary Drama Club, under the direction of Mrs. Hawkins. Their production of Charlotte's Web proved that we've got some talented entertainers coming up!

More 6th Grade Book Report projects

Southern Aroostook Community School 6th graders just finished up book reports. Students presented their finished projects this week Their focus was on characterization , fill a box with 10 items significant to the main character in their books, summarize their book and identify how the main character changed throughout the story.
