Congratulations to the So. Aroostook High School girls basketball team on their win over Hodgdon High School tonight, final score 72-43. They improve their record to 14-0. So. Aroostook was led by Cami Shields with 18 points, Madison Russell with 13 points, Madison Shields with 12 points, and 8th grader Ally Shields with 16 points, including 4 three point field goals. Hodgdon was led by Anna Oliver with 20 points.

Thank you to Jennifer Potter for being our guest speaker about nutrition today! Students enjoyed the informative presentation on added sugars. Jennifer is the culinary arts teacher at Region II.




Southern Aroostook Community School was in the Houlton Pioneer Times this week!

Good luck to the So. Aroostook High School(13-0) girls basketball team in their game this evening vs. Hodgdon High School(11-1). Game is is 7:00pm. There will be a preliminary game between the Oakfield and Island Falls girls basketball teams starting at 6:00pm. Spectators are welcome to attend, masks are required. Mrs. Desmond’s class sampling foods from around the world!

Today’s WinterKids activity was to learn about and sample foods from around the world. These foods were from: Asia, Australia, China, Ecuador, Guatemala, Italy, Japan, Mexico, and Spain!

Today’s WinterKids activity was to research snacks looking at added sugars. Students had $20 of Sugar Bucks to plan their snacks, focusing on staying under 20 grams of added sugars.



Four Southern Aroostook High School students, participating in the TRIO program, visited two colleges this past weekend. One college in Maine and the other in the heart of Boston. While in Boston, the students also visited the TD Garden and watched the Celtics play the Portland Trail Blazers, the New England Aquarium, and the Boston Opera House to see the musical "Pretty Women". Thank you to TRIO advisor Ken Ervin for helping make this college tour trip happen for our students!




Good luck to the So. Aroostook High School boys basketball teams in their games this evening @ Central Aroostook High School. JV game time is 5:30pm, with the varsity game following at around 7:00pm.


A reminder to RSU 50 parents/guardians: tomorrow, Wednesday January 26th, is an Early Release Day for students. Student dismissal is 11:15am.

The WinterKids focus this week is nutrition and our students are working on drinking their recommended daily allowance of water each day.




Today's So. Aroostook High School girls basketball game at Central Aroostook High School high school has been postponed. The game is being rescheduled to Saturday, January 29th, game time is yet to be determined.

So. Aroostook High School Girls basketball team improve
to 13-0 with a 54-21 win over Fort Kent High School this afternoon. Madison Russell scored 19 points and Cami Shields had 14 points to lead the Warriors to the win. The win capped a great day of basketball in Dyer Brook.

So. Aroostook boys knock off previously unbeaten Fort Kent High School this afternoon, final score 59-47. So. Aroostook was led in scoring by Hunter Burpee with 17, Graham Siltz with 14, and Drake Weston with 12 points. Fort Kent was led by Austin Delisle with 15 points and Keegan Cyr with 11. Great win!
