Dear RSU 50 Families,

I hope you have all had an enjoyable, restful summer and are feeling energized for the upcoming school year! We are so excited to welcome our students back to the building.

The first day of school for all students is Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026.

As we prepare for a successful start, I want to highlight a few key policies and important updates for the school year:

School Calendar: Attached to this email is the 2026–2027 school calendar. Please keep this handy for district holidays, workshop days, and early release schedules.

NEW Cell Phone Policy (Bell-to-Bell Ban): To support a focused, engaged learning environment and encourage positive face-to-face social connection, RSU 50 is implementing a "bell-to-bell" ban on cell phones and personal electronic devices. All cell phones, smartwatches, and other personal devices must be turned off and stored in assigned storage space (first bell) until the end of the school day (dismissal bell). If you need to reach your child during the school day for an urgent matter, please call the main office, and our staff will get a message to them promptly.

Parent/Guardian Economic Status Form (Chance to Win an iPad!): Within the next week, you will receive a Parent/Guardian Economic Status Form in the mail. Please note: this form is NOT for school lunch purposes. Instead, this data directly determines how much funding, grant money, and educational support our school receives from the state. It has a huge impact on the resources and programs we can provide our students, and we are aiming for a 100% completion rate this year. To show our gratitude, every family that turns in a completed form will be entered into a drawing to win a brand-new iPad!

Dress Code Reminder: As you begin your back-to-school shopping, please keep our school dress code guidelines in mind. We ask that all attire be appropriate for a comfortable and focused learning environment. You can review the full dress code guidelines in our student handbook on the school website.

Attendance Policy: Daily attendance is critical to your student's academic success. If your child is going to be absent for any reason, please call or contact the main office to let us know. If you ever have questions or concerns about an absence, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
