"Boosting Readiness for College and Career" Grant Will Help Middle and High School Students Successfully Transition to Higher Education and the Workforce
DYER BROOK, Maine — Southern Aroostook Community School (SACS) is proud to announce that it has been selected by the Board of Directors at the MELMAC Education Foundation to receive a 2026 Boosting Readiness for College and Career Grant in the amount of $10,000.00.
The MELMAC Foundation’s specialized grant program funds Maine schools to ensure middle school, high school, and Career and Technical Education (CTE) students have the tools, guidance, and resources necessary to successfully transition into post-secondary education and the workforce.
The $10,000 grant will be utilized to enrich the school's curriculum and student support systems across four core pillars:
College and Career Culture: Expanding structured, motivational, and experiential opportunities to prepare students for the full range of post-secondary choices.
Family Engagement: Helping students and their families navigate and understand the critical steps required to prepare for life after high school through a formal, structured plan.
Financial Literacy: Empowering students to make informed, smart choices regarding their long-term financial health and independence.
Career Exposure: Providing direct exposure to local businesses and colleges as part of a broad, community-minded awareness curriculum.
SACS administration extends its appreciation to Southern Aroostook School Counselor Jessica Greene, whose hard work and dedication during the application process made securing these funds for the student body possible.
