At the conclusion of this school year, Southern Aroostook Community School will say a bittersweet farewell to a truly exceptional educator. Elementary Special Education Teacher Daphne Nason will be leaving the district to accept an advancement into school administration with another district. While we are incredibly sad to lose her presence in our elementary hallways, we are absolutely thrilled for her as she takes this natural and well-deserved next step in her professional journey.

Throughout her tenure with us, Daphne has been an instrumental member of our special education department, driving much of the progress and data-proven success our school has celebrated. Her classroom has always been a space of safety, immense growth, and unwavering encouragement for every student who walked through her door.

What makes Daphne so irreplaceable is her deep professional knowledge. A dyslexia expert and an incredibly strong academic interventionist, she possesses the unique ability to unlock reading and learning paths for children who struggled to find success elsewhere. Her relentless dedication to staying on the cutting edge of literacy intervention has transformed the academic trajectories of countless young learners in our community.

While her new district is gaining a strong advocate for kids and an elite educator, we know that the systems and standards of excellence she helped build here at SACS will endure for years to come.  Thank you, Daphne, for your heart, your brilliance, and your unwavering dedication to the students of our district. We wish you and your family nothing but the very best as you step into your new administrative role!
