Southern Aroostook High School senior Ally Shields will graduate with honors in June as a member of the Class of 2026. Ally has put together one of the most decorated athletic careers in recent memory. On the basketball court, she is a 3-time Northern Maine Champion and a 3-time State Champion. Her individual accolades match her team's success, highlighted by crossing the historic 1,000-career-point milestone. Ally was named to the Bangor Daily All-Tourney team as a sophomore, earned All-Aroostook honors in both her sophomore and senior years, and was selected as a Maine McDonald’s All-Star her senior year. She also received a “Stevie Award”, recognizing her as one of the best players in the County. Her athletic talents extend to the soccer field as well, where she earned All-Aroostook honors during her sophomore season. Ally is also playing varsity softball this season.
Beyond the gym, Ally has been a constant voice for her peers. She served on the Student Council during her freshman and sophomore years before being elected Class Vice President for both her junior and senior years. Ally is a dedicated member of the National Honor Society, the Southern Aroostook Scholarship Fund, and served as a member of the junior prom committee.
Ally consistently finds ways to use her athletic passion to give back. She is a familiar face to the youth of our community, volunteering at SACS Hoop Camp and refereeing pee-wee basketball games. Her volunteer footprint also includes lending a hand at the Special Olympics, the SACS Food Drive, and the annual SACS Community Service Day. Showing great time management and work ethic, Ally has also balanced her busy schedule with a two-year employment at the Mill Pond Dairy Bar in Hodgdon.
This fall, Ally will take her talents to the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI). She will be enrolling in their Physical Therapy Assistant program while continuing her basketball career at the collegiate level playing for the Owls. Ally is the daughter of Jordan and Olivia Shields.
