Southern Aroostook High School senior Daniel Kuindersma will graduate with honors in June as a member of the Class of 2026.Daniel has consistently sought out opportunities to grow as a leader, representing his school at the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference (HOBY) in 2024, Maine Dirigo State in 2025, and the Aroostook League Leadership Conference from 2022 to 2024. A member of the National Honor Society and a regular invitee to the local Rotary Luncheons, he has balanced leadership with an incredibly rigorous academic workload. By taking full advantage of Early College and AP courses, Daniel has already earned enough transfer credits to put him within just two classes of completing his entire freshman year of college before even crossing the high school graduation stage. His dedication to excellence has earned him the 2026 Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) Principals' Award.
Daniel competed in varsity soccer and basketball, but truly left his mark on the baseball diamond. A four-year varsity baseball player, he served as Team Captain for both his 2025 and 2026 seasons and earned All-Aroostook Honors in 2025. Daniel plays summer and club baseball for Western Valley in Woodstock, New Brunswick, where he helped lead his team to a Runner-Up finish at the 2025 18U New Brunswick Provincials.
With over 240 hours of community service, Daniel is deeply invested in giving back. He has been a driving force behind Dollars for Scholars, volunteering his time for key fundraising events including: the annual Canoe and Kayak Race, Calendar Sales and the April Raffle, The Christmas Basket Raffle, Sub sandwich sales and Pennies for Seniors.
This fall, Daniel will take his talents to Vermont State University - Lyndon, where he will major in Exercise Science with a focus on Pre-Athletic Training and Strength & Conditioning. He is also thrilled to continue his athletic journey at the collegiate level, taking the field as a student-athlete for the VTSU Hornets baseball team. Daniel is the son of Todd & Michelle Kuindersma.
