Southern Aroostook High School senior Annie Harthorne will graduate with honors in June as a member of the Class of 2026. Annie has consistently set a high bar for character and academic excellence. Her leadership potential was recognized early when she was selected to attend the Maine Youth Leadership Seminar in 2023. Annie has been a dedicated member of the National Honor Society from 2023 through 2026, has represented SACS at the Houlton Rotary Luncheon, and is a member of the SACS Scholarship Fund.

Annie has played Varsity Soccer for four seasons, her hard work and natural ability to inspire others culminated in her being named Team Captain for the 2025 season. Annie is also an accomplished musician, she has performed with the SACS Band throughout high school and earned the distinct honor of participating in the All Aroostook Music Festival for four consecutive years (2023–2026).

A big part of Annie’s high school journey has been her dedication to working with children and giving back to her community. She is a familiar, friendly face at the Dyer Brook Community Church, where she has volunteered in the nursery and helped run Vacation Bible School since 2022, expanding her role to lead Children’s Church in 2026. Her hands-on experience with kids is further backed by her local work as a trusted babysitter.  Beyond her church, she has stepped up for nearly every major service initiative at SACS, including volunteering for the Food Pantry, the Clothing Drive, SACS Community Service Day, and the Special Olympics.

This fall, Annie will be taking her talents to the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI), where she will major in Elementary Education. Her ultimate goal is one that makes our community incredibly proud: she hopes to stay right here in Aroostook County to teach after earning her bachelor’s degree.  Annie is the daughter of Andy & Cher Harthorne.
