Southern Aroostook High School senior Isabella Martinez will graduate with honors in June as a member of the Class of 2026. Isabella has maintained Highest Honors consistently throughout her time at SACS, but her accolades extend far beyond the local honor roll. She was recognized nationally by CollegeBoard with both the "Rural and Small Town Recognition Award" and the "School Recognition Award." based on her PSAT scores.
Isabella was elected Class Secretary for her sophomore year and was inducted into the National Honor Society that same year. She has continued her service to the student body as a member of the Student Council throughout her junior and senior years. She has also been a dedicated member of the Drama Club for the last three years, contributing to the performing arts culture at SACS. Isabella also played on the diamond for the Softball team during her sophomore year.
Isabella has volunteered at the SACS Clothing Drive and the Food Pantry for the past three years. For her NHS Individual Service Project, she combined her creativity with her spirit of giving by hand-making Christmas-themed goodie bags for families visiting the food pantry in December. She also lent her support to the Special Olympics during her junior year.
Isabella has one of the most clearly defined and ambitious post-secondary maps we’ve seen in some time here. Her journey toward medicine will begin at Northern Maine Community College, where she will earn an Associate’s degree in Liberal Studies. From there, she plans to transfer to the University of New England (UNE) for a Bachelor’s in Medical Biology. Her ultimate goal is to attend the UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine to earn her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Pediatric Oncology. Isabella is the daughter of Peter and Kate Martinez.
