Trafton Russell

Trafton Russell will graduate with honors from Southern Aroostook High School in June. Trafton has consistently demonstrated academic excellence, making the honor roll numerous times in high school.  Trafton has been recognized at the Annual Houlton Rotary Luncheon for his academic excellence. Trafton is also an active member of the SACS Scholarship Program. Trafton also participated in the Region Two School of Applied Technology Electrical program his sophomore year.  Trafton’s true passion is fishing, hunting, and the outdoors.  Much of his spare time is spent enjoying the Northern Maine woods. 

Trafton has been very active in high school athletics here at Southern Aroostook participating in a variety of activities. Trafton has played varsity basketball for four years, starting for the last three seasons, and was a key contributor of the two-time Class D State Championship teams in 2022 and 2023.  Trafton has earned All-Aroostook honors in basketball, was selected to participate in the Aroostook Senior All-Star Game, and was also selected as a MABC McDonald’s Senior All-Star.  Trafton has played four years of varsity soccer, also earning All- Aroostook Honors the last two seasons.  Trafton was also selected to the Northern Maine 8 Person Regional All-StarTeam as a senior.  Trafton has also played varsity baseball and varsity golf.  

Trafton has also given back through volunteering with the SACS Food Pantry, refereeing peewee basketball games in Oakfield and Island Falls, volunteering at a soccer skills clinic for elementary aged students, and volunteering at the Annual SACS Community Service Day.

Outside of school, Trafton has worked part-time for Northern Maine Railways, Harbison Plumbing, Heating, & Air Conditioning, Va-Jo-Wa Golf Course, and for Rick Shields as a laborer and carpenter.  After graduation, Trafton will be attending the University of Maine at Fort Kent and will major in the Forest Management program.  Trafton is the son of Brett and Kim Russell.
