Symptoms - Performance issues, general slowness.
If your laptop is performing poorly. ex. maybe the mouse pointer movement isn't smooth. Chrome is running slow, there is a lag when typing a doc, etc... This indicated that Chrome is likely in a bad state and your laptop will require a reboot.
ACTION: Quit Chrome completely and restart the laptop.
Symptoms - Excessive fan noise
There are a couple reasons for this, it could be Chrome has got into a bad state or the laptop is in need of a restart.

The laptop likely needs to be reset. The SMC reset only effects the logic board, you will not erase your hard drive.
