At the conclusion of the 2025–2026 school year, Southern Aroostook Community School will witness the closing of a truly historic chapter. After 40 years of unwavering dedication, passion, and service to our students, Susan Noyes has announced her retirement.
To put a 40-year career into perspective, Sue began inspiring students in our district in 1986. Since then, she has been a steady anchor in an ever-changing world of education. While technologies and curriculums have come and gone, Sue’s core mission never wavered: putting students first and fostering a love for learning.
Four decades in one district means Sue’s impact is woven into the very fabric of our community. She has achieved this milestone of teaching the children, and perhaps even the grandchildren, of former students. The legacy left behind isn't just measured in years, but in the hundreds of lives shaped, inspired, and championed within her classroom walls. Beyond her work with students, Sue has been a mentor to countless new educators, a trusted leader on our staff, and a constant source of wisdom and institutional knowledge.
While it is incredibly difficult to imagine our hallways without Sue’s familiar presence next fall, we are filled with joy and excitement for her as she enters this next well-deserved chapter of life.
On behalf of the RSU 50 school board, administration, staff, students, and the generations of families you have impacted: Thank you, Sue, for 40 years of heart, dedication, and excellence. We wish you a retirement filled with relaxation, adventure, and the knowledge that your legacy at Southern Aroostook Community School will endure forever!
